UPDATE on the damaged meadow

A very heartfelt thank you to all for your supportive and encouraging words , advice, and emails!.......also for the understanding of my ranting.
All of you gave me enough armor to be prepared to stand firm and not wilt with negotiations this morning.
The agent/representative showed up on time......very pleasant......very straightforward and apologetic about the damaged land.
He and the company have accepted the damage as their responsibility and that it never should have happened.
In the next days/weeks to come,  the land will be cleared of the parts and objects that belong to the company, then the caliche  will be removed and good top soil will brought in and leveled out.
Native grass seeds and other plants will be brought in and planted to return the land back to it's original state.
It will be awhile until the land heals and starts the growing process.......
I took the advice of contacting a local extension office who will put together a bag of native grass seeds that belong in our area, and I will cast wildflower seed by the hundreds as also suggested by you helpful readers.
and the agent will be working in all areas to make this situation "right" for us.
So as things progress, I will post about it.
Thank you all!

Wow, I just read your previous post. So SO sad. Some companies/people just have no respect for the Earth. BUT, I can evasions, with everything cleared out and some good quality topsoil and native seeds and grasses, it will come back better than ever. We can't wait to watch ti grow with you! And when they are gone and done, it would be neat for you to grab some seed of plants you want and scatter them about as well.

Wonderful news, and after all no need to resort to any hard words. I am so glad they realise it was their fault, and are doing their best to remedy it all. With loads of good top soil, would it be almost better ground for seeds than before? I wait to see progress photos. Meantime, I join with you in being so thankful for the result.

This is good news.Be sure, when the property is cleaned up, Mother Nature will work hard for recovery. And with your help (seeds and so on)it will recover faster then you may think about today.

I'm happy they have "stepped up to the plate". I've seen this same damage happen in Texas.

YAY, that is great news. In time you will have even more beauty than before.

It was decent and praise worthy of them to admit they had done wrong, and willing to make it right.

Enjoy your week ~ FlowerLady

I am glad that they have taken responsibility for this and promised to fix the problem. I hope they follow through in a timely manner. Hopefully you will have your beautiful meadow back soon!

Oh my, you were right to be upset. Sounds like you now have a workable solution, provided the other party keeps their word. I lived 62 years in Texas. There's a lot of land there and I don't want to see any of it abused. Land is a precious thing.

Good for you! Sometimes, we just have to be determined and have resolve. The land is like our children, it's our responsibility to take care of it...hat's off to you!

Hi Kathleen - I'm so sorry to hear about your beautiful prairie land. It's almost like a cut to our skin that leaves a big ugly scar when the land is torn up for "progress". I know that it has to be done sometimes, but for people/companies to not keep their word just rubs me the wrong way. I hate seeing trees bulldozed and the natural undergrowth razed away. You know all the little critters are scared to death. I hope this works out satisfactorily for you all!

Oh my. This is devastating to read. I'm praying that the company will hold good on their responsibility to somewhat return your meadow back to where you can enjoy it. I pray it will be more beautiful than ever.

I'm so glad to hear they are going to try and make it right for you! (I am trying to catch up on blog posts today and am reading them in the order of my feed, so I'm slow to comment here). It is only right since they did the damage, that they should be the ones to fix it back again.

So happy to hear this news! Good for you!

When planting wildflowers, do you actually plant or scatter. I have a part of the back lot that I would love to section off for wildflowers.

I was sorry to hear about your meadow but it sounds like they will put it back in good shape. Looking forward to seeing lots of wildflowers living there. Hugs, LJ
