I don't recall ice and snow lasting this long in our part of the country...........

this is the 4th day.......it started Tuesday, Dec. 30th.....
.Everything is covered in inches of ice......
still and quiet.
From the trees........that creak from the ice in the frozen breeze......

to the long prairie grass that froze as it was swaying in the midst of it all.

The thorny cactus........

and the tall pine tree........
covered in white stillness.

The road that is usually busy in the week with gravel and oil haulers
has become a long ice skating rink.

Our front gate greets visitors......if there were any.....
with an  icy welcome.

Icy limbs loom high in the cold snowy sky.

We got another ice storm in the wee morning hours of this day......
every one's home is covered in ice!

I am in search of the sun.......it seems to have disappeared......have you seen it??
I am hoping it will show it's bright face tomorrow and return the warmth to this frigid land.
How about you? Are you under a blanket of ice or snow?
Are you enjoying warm sunshine through your window?
I would love to hear!

While it looks very pretty I know it is treacherous... be careful! Cold here in my corner of Ohio... can't complain after see those pictures. Take care!

I think it is probably milder here than it is for you right now which is unusual. The ice looks pretty, but I know it can cause problems too. Hope you are staying safe and warm there.

I can't complain at all seeing what's happening there. Goodness gracious; yes, be careful.

Noticed on your side bar the reference to J C Penney. I live about 6-7 from the retirement village he built here in FL. They left his house up for many years, but it's gone now.

It'been cloudy here most of the day. Seems it always starts out that way before we are overcast. The weatherman is warning we may get some ice/snow/rain over the next 24 hours. We've had no measureable snow. Keep wondering where it is. Keep warm!

We were in Midland to see our newest grandson-got there the 30th just ahead of the ice. Left there this morning and it was pretty rough for awhile! Got home to the Ft. Worth area a little while ago-just rain here. Take care!

The sun is not in the Ozarks....the last time I saw the sun for any length of time was Christmas day. It's just plain gloomy here. When we lived in northern Missouri, we often had ice and had several severe ice storms. I must say they are stunningly beautiful, but equally as destructive. Take care & don't fall on the ice!

Wow! This makes me shiver! We've had no snow, just rain with temps in the upper 30s and lower 40s, and every day the skies are overcast. I'd like to see the sunshine too! The ground is saturated with water and makes feeding the cattle a chore; thank goodness for four wheel drive tractors! Hope it warms up for you very soon!!

Beautiful , even if unexpected and unwanted. Although we have had an awful lot of weather that has left destruction in it's wake, I am ever grateful that the weather continues to be uncontrollable and truly unpredictable by mankind no matter all the science we have to aid us.

I hope you're doing well in spite of the very cold winter.

Beautiful pictures Kathleen.

We have had pretty good weather until now. An ice storm yesterday and the first real snow of the season is going on now. I still doubt it will amount to much. I am craving the sun, for while we haven't had a lot of snow the skies have been dark and grey and cloudy so long I feel a need to hibernate. I hope the sun comes out for both of us soon! It is so amazing to see photos of cacti with snow on them!

Your pictures are beautiful, but I know it is not fun. We do not have ice or freezing yet, but it is cold. We saw the sun for a bit yesterday and today it was out in full force. Wonderful, even though it didn't help much with the warmth.

It's cold here-around 20, but with the wind it's colder. Yesterday it was 50 degrees and I was outside cutting some dead flowers in the garden-and doing a little weeding!
Your photos are beautiful, but I hope the ice won't cause any problems...Take care!!1

These are beautiful photos, but I'm sure you're getting tired of snow and ice. I sure hope you'll get sunshine soon. It's very cold here, too. We've not had much snow yet.
Hope you are staying warm and safe.

Brrr. Here in Wales we have it wet and windy, but very mild (amazingly so for winter). It's nice to have it frosty and clear, but one day of it now and again will do! We had our day on 29th December, and it's warmed up since.

Keep safe and warm.
