I have already introduced you to the coyote

who came up a few months ago for a "fresh" chicken dinner...........
and left disappointed without one........
this time.........

Now I introduce the Road Runner who has come for a drink in the middle of a hot afternoon.
(you can click onto the photo for a better view)

These large birds are very common here...........and they can fly.........
but they run better.

I am always amazed at how big their eyes are.
Do you have Road Runners in your area?
How about coyotes??
I would love to hear!

Yes, we have both... The road runner hangs around the bales of hay and when the bales are moved it hunts for grub worms. Coyotes around here are usually very thin and their hair looks like it's matted and dirty.

By the way, I'm in need of a good picture of a coyote for a book I've written. :)

We don't have any roadrunners here as far as I am aware. We do have coyotes out in the woods in the county, but I've never seen any. Nice pictures with this post. I hope you are having a good week, Kathleen. :)

Coyotes yes, haven't ever seen a roadrunner though. Cool looking bird. The coyotes make me nervous, not sure how aggressive they can be?

I am surprised by how slender this bird is...I guess I remember them from cartoons when I was young !
No such animals where I live.

He is so cute!!!! I wish we did have road runners here. We do have coyotes. Many times we hear them at night howling and barking. They have been in our driveway-which is very close to our house! Two of them ran across the road one morning as I was taking my walk-but I wasn't afraid. They were more interested in something else (thank God for that!)

Meant to say I LOVE your photos! Your garden is amazing. Wish I had some watermelons, etc growing in my pathetic garden right now. We had roadrunners in the yard the first and second summers...I have older photos. They haven't been back. Not sure why. We were shocked to discover they kill songbirds! So, I suppose my yard full of songbirds is happy they have stayed away.

I've never seen a road runner before! I think I always pictured them bigger... (not gonna lie- probably from the cartoon! ha!)

Do you leave that water out for the wild animals or for your animals?

Is Road Runner their true name or just a nickname? We certainly don't have anything like them in Australia. Just Tasmanian Devils, haha!(thinking of the cartoons!)
