This threatening cloud

wound up bringing much needed rain

and a cooling to the already heat blasted area.
When a good rain like this comes along......a few days later, the grounds turn green.........
usually with weeds. But if you look at the green growing in this area of my flower garden,
you will see that this is a carpet of wild Prairie Aster.

It is growing wonderfully in every area and along side of my walkway.

Along with it is the wild yellow daisy.

Prairie Aster grows thicker and taller and is filled with vibrant purple flowers throughout summer and into October.
This is all flowers. The areas that are just earth........will be planted with zinnia in a few weeks.

The rain also brings out many creatures. As most of you know by now, I show you a lot of photos of horned toads that grow abundantly here on the grounds............

but I don't think I have shown you the baby ones which are precious and cute!

This one is smaller than a teaspoon.

(click on photo for a better view)
They are so small when they start out and they camouflage well in the area they are in.
How about you?
Is all of your snow gone?
Are you covered  in dust..........or are you getting good rain?
maybe too much rain??
I would love to hear!

That is one cute little critter! We don't have those here, just regular toads. I love toads, especially the little tiny ones around the outside of the house. We are having rain so far this spring, but it hasn't been warm enough to plant much just yet. Sometimes it seems wildflowers are about all that survive.

The horned toad is a cute animal. I'm glad you got the much needed rain. We're having sunshine today after a lot of rain on Monday. We are having an awesome spring and enjoying the sunshine today.
Have a wonderful weekend.

I fell for these little critters when watching "Old Yeller." I can just see Little Arliss digging into his pocket for his pet "horny" toad which he traded for Old Yeller and a home-cooked meal.

I love your prairie flowers! What a show they must put on when the prairie is in bloom.

That is absolutely the cutest little toad and your prairie flowers are lovely. Spring has finally sprung here in the Ozarks, my forsythia bush is blooming. Today it was 80 degrees and sunny. A welcomed change!

Glad you got some rain, Kathleen. It got hot here in Texas in a hurry, didn't it? We had a glorious plenty of rain earlier in the season, but it's dry again now. I was watering the gardens earlier. The horned toad is one we never see her. He sure is a cutie, but then I guess almost any creature is cute when small. I saw a tiny little gecko this afternoon running from the watering hose.

We are having beautiful weather here the past couple of days, but why is there a snowflake on wednesday??? Do horned toads feel the same as a regular toad or are they prickly??

Squeal! I love the baby horned toad! I wish we had some in our yard. Love the Prairie Asters too. We are still looking for rain but I know it isn't far off.
