The grounds are starting to awaken..........

and the bulbs I planted in early fall, have sprouted, gotten taller, and are now just about ready to bloom.
I can't wait!

Earlier in the year, I had the opportunity to pick through an old farmstead acreage, where an old house had fallen and lots of things were left lying on the grounds.........years ago. I saw this old railing and had to bring it home. At first I was going to use it, standing up, for a towel rack in my vintage shop.

However, it just said "garden" to me an I fixed it as a partial fence to go along with the vintage archway that I have placed in my garden. I love the way it looks........don't you?

I also put these whimsical flowers and butterflies

along in front of it..........but I am not so sure if this is the look I want for it. So I might remove them.

If you remember, I love making cement things for the garden and had my " cement pumpkin garden" out by my patio.

I had also learned how to cast cement leaves and to give them unique colors.
But the pumpkins just never seemed to fit in that space...........

So I loaded them up in the wheel barrow

and placed them on the other side of the vintage archway. I think they are still too clustered up, so I may stretch them out a little further.

So now the front of the garden has a lot of decoration..........as you can see, I have Sophie giving it her full inspection. I hope to grow my pumpkins and zinnias here of course, but I am also planning on growing grapes and blackberries. I have never had success with these vines, but I am not giving up.
How about you? What do you like to decorate your garden with?
What are you planning on growing this year?
I would love to hear!

How neat to see things starting to get ready to bloom in your gardens. I know it must be very exciting to you after the long winter.

I love what you did with that old rusty iron piece, it looks great. Your pumpkins and those 'heart' shaped leaves (especially 'cause I like hearts) are fantastic.

I look forward to seeing your garden as it fills out with this years goodies.

Thank you for visiting my blog and your kind comment.

Hi there, Your garden gate reminds me of many that we saw near Mesa, AZ. Love all your creative touches; bulbs already-wow! We have melting snow and I'm thankful for that.
Have a great evening.
Hugs, Noreen

Isn't it fun to create gardens ad then be able to adorn them with whatever strikes our fancy ? You're so creative and I can almost picture your flowers and vines growing up, over, and around your new garden structures.

I'm really liking the iron piece, since I'm always on the lookout for something similar. The farmer has an old hay mowing machine I'd dearly love to have in a flower bed, but for some reason he won't let me have it :( Maybe when "real" flowers bloom you can replace the ones you have there now. And, I too look forward to seeing your garden in full bloom.

It all looks wonderful Kathleen, and I really love all your pumpkins and leaves you made.
We were not going to grow much on our patio, but I picked up a book on container gardening. My son and I are going crazy now planning all that we can grow. We are very excited now. I may never have to go the the farm stands again. LOL.
We also had much heavy rains this past weekend, though not enough to end our CA. drought. But with this week's sun and heat, the flowers should be blooming themselves silly.

I like the railing with the flowers and butterflies by it. That looks really pretty. You are so creative with your gardens and your concrete work, Kathleen. Nice to see those buds getting ready to bloom too! :)

I look forward to the day I see signs of spring life in my gardens! I love to use statuary, large rocks and boulders, and anything that looks like it will add a point of interest. I love my arbor, and picket fence pieces.

I love your garden! So nice to see one without a snow cover. I've wanted to make those cement leaves-yours are beautiful.

We are getting a little warmer here-around 30 degrees today-and we feel like it's spring!
This year I want to grow only a few tomatoes, and the rest will be beans and salad greens. I know I'll be busy with other things this summer, so I want to go easy with the garden.
Hugs from New York!

The gate looks a bit forlorn without any colorful flowers, Kathleen, but glad it was rescued. Nothing is blooming here now, although the daffodils are showing lots of buds. We may not plant any veggies this year, depending on whether or not we decide to do some road trips.
