"Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life and attend to your own business and work with your hands........" 1 Thessalonians 4:11

For days, high winds and dirt from the cotton fields have been blowing,

leaving layers of choking dust on every flower, plant, and structure.

I was delighted to wake up to hearing thunder and seeing this...................

which brought this

and this.

I spent a while, outside on the porch, enjoying the cool air and the fresh fragrance that rain always brings............sending prayers of gratitude up.
The pumpkins I recently planted have sprouted, and hopefully this rain will make them strong and healthy.

How about you?
Are you under pleasant weather?
What are you planting or growing?
I would love to hear!

Here in southwest Missouri we have had lots and lots of rain, wish I could send some of it your way!

We have had rain and we are in a tornado watch until 10:00 P.M. tonight. We had storms come through this morning. I heard the first line that went through. but slept through the second round. We have had quite a bit of rain and they are predicting flooding. We are scheduled to have rain all week. Thank you for stopping by and I think I will go back and work on my table topper. Have a wonderful day. Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend.

So far our North Texas has been wonderful, some rain and could certainly use more. Today was a very breezy 85* and delightful. Maybe it means we will have a cool summer, at least that's my theory. Wish the weatherman would agree with me.

Yay for rain in your area! I'm so glad for you, Kathleen.

We have had wonderful amounts of rain... so much that I had to wait longer than usual to plow - I am just now putting out my main vegetable garden.
Have a great week!

One of the most satisfying things I have ever grown is pumpkins, I hope you have a big harvest.
We need rain here on the central coast of California. Fire threats are inland from the coast. We live close to the sea so we have been getting morning fog, then breezy afternoons with the sun out and the birds gathering more and more at my birdbaths.
And the dry hills draw in the deer, wild turkey and sometimes mountain lions.

Hi, no planting down here, snow in great falls down south, and about 1-2 hours north of us.Roads closed, schools closed for a day!!and traffic at a standstill till the grit truck went through. We have sunshine right now, after about 3 Celsius earlier this morning. Cheers from Jean.

Sure could use some rain here in SE AZ. No moisture since last Feb and that was a light dusting of snow. Now it's getting hot and there is a wildfire burning 200 miles west. Some days the wind blows smoke into our area and we choke. Sounds glum but the yucca are in bloom and mesquites are green.

Hello Kathleen,

Sounds the perfect way to start the day. We had 4 mls of rain overnight, it was great to hear the sound of rain on the roof. Hope those pumpkins produce lots of flowers.

Happy days.
Bev.

I can't wait for it to rain here!? I'm anxious not to have to soak my garden with the hose every evening, and get a bit of a break from my water bill and the chore...though it is awfully nice to have that communal time with my plants.

What a blessing rain is! I am still remembering last summer's dreadful drought and remaining thankful for every drop of rain that falls.

In the Pacific Northwest, we have had rain and moderately cool weather. My garden thrives in this weather, and we have already harvested, lettuce, spinach, broccoli, radishes, and the peas are about four feet high and blooming.

I'm so glad you got rain to cool the weather and dampen the dust. What a joy to sit on the porch and enjoy a cool breeze.
We are having hot, sunny days in WNC. It's so good to see the sunshine after a long season of rain. I almost forgot what sunshine looked like after all the rain we have gotten this spring. Thank God for the sun.

We are in full blown summer here in Houston - hot and dry already. But so far we have enough residual moisture to make everything vibrantly alive. Hallelujah!

Hi Kathleen! Glad to see you got some rain. We got a little out of that system.

So, you've planted your pumpkins? Is it that time, then, so you'll have pumpkins for fall? When will they mature? Lotta questions for ya. I have such problems with vine borers, mine all bit the dust last year - even with sevin dust. There were hoards of those little bugs.

The garden is doing well - just harvested green beans and pulled up all the plants. Wonder if it's too late to plant some more...

Sorry - you're the go-to person on gardening Kathleen! I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Kathleen, glad your pumpkins are doing so well. years ago, we planted some too but they ripened well after Halloween time, go figure. We have downsized our garden a lot and now only have a couple of tomato, pepper, eggplant and cucumber plants. Also, a lot of strawberries that we have been enjoying. We sure could use a nice shower here now too.

I'm so glad you're getting rain. We are too! Everything is just exploding with grown and lush foliage. This is my favorite time of Spring. Although this rain has also brought mosquitos a lot earlier than usual. Blaaaach!
