"Make it your ambition to lead a quiet life and attend to your own business and work with your hands........" 1 Thessalonians 4:11

When I need encouragement...........I look at the Ocotillo that grows on the grounds and think upon this verse...............

"Don't grieve that your roses have thorns ...

Rejoice instead that your thorns have roses"

A native plant of New Mexico and our area.
No matter how dry and harsh the times can be, the Ocotillo blooms and perseveres.

How about you?
What do you find encouragement in?.................
Blossoms that spring forth under a foot of snow?.........or
the birth of a new baby.............'or the love in a pet's eyes?
I would love to hear!

What a beautiful picture, Kathleen~ and I love that quote.
I am encouraged when the garden starts growing... for every seed you plant you have to have faith it will come up and when it does, it always makes me happy! :)

What an apt illustration! I had never seen that plant before, but it would encourage me, too.

I try to do what David did in I Samuel 30:6 - encourage myself! There will always be things and circumstances that come against us. That's life. It's how we respond to those things that matters.

What a remarkable tree that Ocotillo is. The bloom is really gorgeous.

I am inspired daily by my garden and wildlife, especially birds. I love watching them.

Have a wonderful day!

Lovely words, I find the morning sky colours do that, grey, red, or cloudy, each sky is special, marking the start to another day. Greetings from Jean

This is a beautiful bloom! I've always loved the bloom of a prickly pear too. I need more encouragement as I grow older.

Neat to see the blossoms already. I used to live in NM, but I don't remember this. We can always look to nature for encouragement.

I remember driving to Phoenix in the spring and seeing the desert come alive, just beautiful. Isn't Mother Nature amazing?

Kathleen, inspiration for me comes in many ways...being outdoors and through volunteering...and by simply spending time alone. I have never heard of an ocotillo plant before your post, it is certainly transforming in its beauty.

Oh all of those things bring great joy, but when I am really down I pour myself a cup of coffee to drink while I watch my chickens. ( I have lights on in my chicken pens so even at night I can watch them)

We have lovely ocotillo here as well, of course. That quote is so apporpriate for it in the spring!
