The autumn days have grown cooler and more pleasant

and the woods are slowly changing their color. There are still many hues of green amongst the crooked mesquite trees...........

and various wilflowers still bloom in abundance and what seems to be perfect bouquets ...............

the cactus are starting to show their red thorny pods.............

This shrub has clusters of small leaves, that turn from green to the yellow and brown.

Some of the bushes are full of red berries.

The yucca pods are brown  and full of seeds........
the throny cactus looks almost as if it has a spiked hairdo..........
don't you think?

the floor of the woods is filled with clumps of this beautiful flowering brush.

In shady spots, wild mushrooms break free from the ground. ...................
No happy toad or little elf underneath..............
I checked!

Even way out here...........where there are no neighbors.............we still have a neighborhood watch going on.

And along with the plant life........the wild life is forever making it's rounds................

Sophie and Salem found a most unusual visitor..........they can't seem to figure it out...........

No matter how hard Salem tried to get it to come out and to introduce itself, it remained tucked inside of it's shell.
How about you?
Are you seeing the fall colors of yellow, red, and gold?
Do you still have blossoms and blooms?
I would love to hear!

I love how your blog always says Texas. Too funny about the turtle. My cats would have loved playing with it also.

So different from our Maine. We are finally at the trailing end of Autumn. No rattle snakes or tortoise here. Just leaves blowing in the wind. Thanks for the pics of the cactus. The snake you can keep right there. LOL.

What a fun post! So funny with the turtle--but you can keep the snake! We still have a lot of green, and I noticed my roses are trying to bloom again!

I always love to visit you!
Your furry ones with the turtle made me giggle-and I loved the photo of the cow with all that giant cactus. I can't help but think you are brave to even walk around-I'd be so afraid of a snake surprising me!
We have a beautiful fall going on here-lots of colors, and cool weather too. Still lots of leaves on the trees here..Thank you for showing your part of the world!

The turtle/tortoise and the dog and cat are a hoot! The snake...well necessary, but not right next to me.

It is starting to get beautiful here in the mountains of NC. The leaves are turning-red,yellow, golden. The bears are still roaming around looking for food.

I do love seeing pictures of your area of Texas, so different from our state. The elms are beginning to turn yellow and the goldenrod is blooming along the roadsides. I keep a close watch as I walk; copperhead snakes could be hunting for a winter home.

Your garden environment is so different from my WI one! So fun to see the cacti which only live in greenhouses up here. Thanks for sharing.

I love seeing the wildflowers and vegetation you have growing there, Kathleen. It always looks so different from what we have here. The snake I can do without though!! Haha! :-)

No colors here yet, Kathleen, unless you count green and more green. We took a week-long road trip to the VA Blue Ridge last week and it was the same there with only some spots of yellow and red leaves.Did the turtle get relocated?

Thanks for that walk around your beautiful property, Kathleen! I love seeing all the flora and fauna you've got going on there. We are starting to see and feel a bit of Autumn here. Not much, but a little.
