Nature is an unlimited broadcasting station, through which God speaks to us every hour, if we only will tune in.
George Washington Carver
I thought about these words over the past week as Sophie and I were out and about on one of our long walks.........
It seems that "nature" was calling out to me everywhere I turned.

Look at the detail in those fragile wings!

Sometimes, I find a surprise............when I really don't want to.

I spend a great deal of time..........chasing the elusive butterfly...........

this one looks as if it came right out of the pages of a vintage nature print book.........
doesn't it?

My zinnias are now coming into bloom....( a post for later)

and the butterflies find out very quickly.

This beautiful creature was flitting in and out, in front of Sophie and I and it suddenly came to rest and allowed me to get very close for it's photo...........

then it slowly opened up it's wings as if to say........
"now look!"
Aren't those colors beautiful?
I think it's white edged wings look as if they were crocheted.........
don't you think?

Out in the muddy cotton field, came these two , hopping along.......
they are under 1/2 inch!

No one likes the lonely stink bug.........
but they are wonderful models for a photo!
I am always amazed at how shiny it stays in the Texas dirt and dust..........
black cars are shiny, but they don't stay that way!

And this tiny little dragon........
the horned toad........
still so small.
No matter what species............
all babies are cute.............
don't you think?
How about you?
What has nature been broadcasting and what has God been speaking to you?
I would love to hear!

Wonderful photos, Kathleen! The edge of the butterfly's wings do look like they are crocheted! I love the tiny little toads or frogs, whichever they are. I hope you have a nice weekend! :-)

Your photos of the dragonfly are exceptional, and the butterflies are just plain beautiful!

The stinkbugs here in Tennessee are not shiny or black. They're really ugly and are trying their best to invade our home.

Have a great weekend!

You have some beautiful creatures in Texas, not so many in my small Michigan yard but I have had some hummingbirds this week and some butterflies and some big ol' mantis. I really enjoyed the photos of the cotton also.

I am crazy for your little horned toad. I haven't seen one for years and I used to play with them, very gentle they are. You are right, the butterflies look like some in my old books. Remember when I said i hadn't seen cotton here in Central Calif. Well, last week we had to go to Fresno and passed a huge field full of cotton, not to mention endless acres of corn ready to pick. And along a pond, a flock of geese resting from their flight. You are so right about nature.

How beautiful Kathleen, all your lovely creatures and blessings. That's a good question. I've been finding beautiful mushrooms, acorns, and it smells so very sweet outside as I ride my bike thru the woods. God does speak in such a beautiful way. I need to pause more and absorb his blessings. thanks dear friend for reminding me. love,Diana

Kathleen, that little horned toad was my favorite image today. There are still quite a few butterflies here and their beauty is always captivating and just as elusive.

The baby horned toad caught my heart. The horned toads have disappeared from my part of Texas.
