From his high perch in the front yard tree

Salem's attention has been distracted from the birds, to something on the ground.
What could it be??

Could it be the badger prints left behind after " Shaggy" has come in the night to visit?..........
No.

Could it be new the delicate blossoms that are just now opening up in the early morning sunshine?.........
NO.

He jumps down for further inspection....................

and finds himself in the middle of a busy ant den.

The warm weather has awakened these underground farmers and they are busy as ever robbing the bird feeder of it's bounty.

Speaking of busy..............I did it!..........I finished writing my book and am now in search of a publisher!!

Salem has jumped back to his safe refuge...............
somethings are better looked upon than touched.

Haha! I think Salem is in a safe place, too! I remember one of our cats on more than one occasion would carelessly get near a fire ant bed and jump straight up in the air when one of the little boogers got him! Wow, you got really close to those ants - good pictures, Kathleen!

Ha! How funny to see Salem in the tree. I am always amazed how ants are able to find tiny bits of food and carry it back to their nests. They really are hard workers. Wishing you much success with your book. Tammy

What a fun post. You had me waiting on edge to see what Salem was interested in.
Those pesky fire ants are little and mighty creatures. Your pics are awesome.
Congrats on finishing your book. I did not catch a post about this being a new follower. Sounds wonderful and I hope you get a publisher promptly. Best wishes.

Our rain finally ended and the sun is out, but much cooler. Oh well, we will have triple digits soon enough here in the Lone Star State.
Thanks for stopping by.
Hugs, Celestina Marie

He is right - ants are not to be visited with at all - rude little critters!

These are wonderful photos of Salem. He's a very pretty cat. I guess those ants put him to going if they stung him. Wishing you much success with placing your book.

Kathleen, how happy you must be to have completed your book, best wishes on getting it published. And, Salem is sure an eagle-eyed feline. To answer a question from last weekend's post, we have daffodils, lily of the valley, and various lawn wildflowers in bloom now.
