Just down the hall...........

the door to this bedroom, now , remains closed. Not a sound comes from the other side..................
Just yesterday, at any given time, one could hear the sounds of a guitar being strummed, bongo drums being paddled, or Mozart or Irish music being played.
And now.............there is nothing left, but silence, and the belongings of a tall young boy who used to call this room his space.

My youngest son has left today to start his life's journey in the Navy.
The next 8 weeks will be boot camp................although I have another child who has gone through this whole process and loves her Navy life............the word........
"boot camp"
strikes worry in my heart. I know he will do fine..................
it's just that he is such a good kid and his heart belongs to the Lord.........
and I don't want anyone yelling at him..............
which will happen in boot camp.
He is the brave one and has looked forward to this day, ready to begin his adventure.
Could you please keep Joseph in your prayers?
How about you?
Have you had your young ones go off to boot camp?
 I would love to hear

I did, Kathleen, our baby girl went off to the Army. Long time ago, though, and she's out now and doing well. I will pray for Joseph. And for you. You'll both be fine, too.

When my oldest got done with boot camp, the drill sargent asked him why it was so easy. My son replied, you need to meet my mother, as you have nothing on her and what she taught me growing up. You see with the Lord in their hearts and a solid upbringing, boot camp is a piece of cake! He will be just fine, but I can rembember the dread in my heart when he left. Not only will i keep your son in my prayers, I will pray for peace in your heart! Warmest. Renee

Awww. Prayers for your son. My twin sons are 15 and I dread the day when they move out on their own. I will miss them so much.
It's a bittersweet moment I'm sure. On one side you worry and miss them, and on the other you are so excited for them and proud, too.

((((hugs))))

Not yet, I still have mine at home. But I can only imagine how you must feel. You have a fine young man, willing to take on the challenge of protecting America. You did a good job with him. He will be fine. Beautiful door knob, love the old glass doorknob..gee..I sound like Aunt Clara from Bewitched...didn't she collect doorknobs? Prayers for protection and peace.

You gave him such strong roots that I'm sure that he will be fine and God is always there to look over him, even when you can't.

Oh my goodness, Renee got it right! I'm sure your Joseph could say the same thing about his mom. Kathleen, I'll be praying for Joseph, too. I didn't have one in the service myself, but my nephew is in the Navy. He was a kid that found it very hard to take any guff from anyone and he did just fine. I guess they learn to ignore the insults and all the cr*p they have to endure. I believe Joseph will be a great asset to our armed forces and I thank him and you for his sacrifice and his service! May God bless him in his endeavors!!!

Yes, we saw a grandson go off into the Navy; he didn't make it though and it made a wearisome time for all of us. But he's doing o.k. now. We'll be praying for God's protection; I wish there was no need for any military duty in our world.

Prayers for your son here, Kathleen. I know it will be a time of adjusting for you too with him away and you at home worrying about him.

Oh, how I know how you feel. Our son left when he was just 17 for the army.

Sad time I know.

I had 3 sons that went to boot camp and I worried about what they would have to do every day...they never could even keep a clean room. The youngest one said "Don't worry Mom..I will just pretend it is you yelling at me when they yell"
It is good that he wanted to go and it will be good when he comes home and has the good benefits from serving his country.

We will keep Joseph and you in our thoughts, Kathleen. Grenville also served in the Navy.

I'm so sorry, Kathleen, because I know you must miss him, but I think Renee's comment was wonderful because I know you raised him right!

I thank your son for taking on this new life and protecting us from harm. May the lord keep him safe and his faith strong as he faces the challenges ahead.

GOD bless you too for raising this outstanding man.

Sweet post!
It is hard to have someone yell at your 'child'
I remember when my youngest (no sheriff deputy) son played football starting at 9 or 10... I hated the whole tuff coach thing. One day I heard him yell at another boy saying..."Man Up" that kind of made me think... well I do want him to be a manly man.... someone that can take it. Of course all this if it is not damaging...and if the kid is not traumatized. Ty loved it. I just had to keep my mouth shut...and cover my eyes (o:
Praying for your son and others in the service and men here protecting us at home.

I have not had a child go off to boot camp. I do have one who is married and lives 6 hrs from me. My prayer was that since I couldn't be there for her, that she be surrounded by Godly women who would be a momma to her. And thankfully that has happened. Saying a prayer for your son and for you.

Kathleen, I am trying to get caught up and gladly so. I've been wondering about you my friend. I am so with you on following your dream. Don't despair, there IS a publishing Company who would love to have your work. I guarantee it. I've been in touch with so many, I may toss a few suggestions your way to see if they work for you. I understand rejection letters make a great portfolio (hehe). Don't let it frustrate you - the right one hasn't come around yet.

Blessings on your venture. You have such a talent for words, and works. Stay on course.
