Looking out the window, I can see the wild doves

have settled in for a feast. They have become abundant lately...........I suppose seeking refuge from all of the recent gunshot and hunting activities that go on throughout the neighboring landscape. The feed and water is also a big draw.

The woods lie in quiet stillness, with only the sound of wind rustling the dry prairie grass..........

along with the prowling sounds of Salem ..........

and Boo, who have

joined Sophie and I on our morning excursion. The trees are losing their leaves and the hues of green are fading to yellow and brown..............

however, the Lantana always shows off it's bright berry seeds this time of year....

and some of the most unusual colors can be found on the most common of weeds and sage brush.

The eggs in my pocket are still running over. The young hens that came here in early spring are laying .........and I was able to keep my customers stocked in eggs for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Did you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving?
I would love to hear!

I like the pictures of Salem and Boo and Sophie. How nice to be having all those eggs! I was glad to have a few days off from work for the holiday. Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving too. :)

Kathleen, you and I live in such different parts of the country although I started out just a few miles from you. We don't know where life will take us, do we. :D
I have no prairie, and all the fields are harvested and plowed flat for next Spring. I do have some dried up flowers in my yard and my bird feeders are full. Duck season has been on here and I can hear the guns down along the river to the west each morning. No fresh eggs here.

At first I thought you were going to say "I can see Russia" (like Sara Pallen did :o)..everything changes with the seasons and we get used to it.

Kathleen, I love seeing your beautiful Texas landscape as I follow along with you and Sophie (and Boo and Salem) on your little excursions. I like the look of dried grasses blowing in the wind and never trim back the ornamental grasses in my borders until spring.

Oh, you do have a flock of wild doves there. We have a patio full here too, I have been through out seed.

Thank you for takin' us on your walk and for the pops of color in the photos but nothing can compair to the pocket full of FRESH eggs you have there. How I wish.....

Hope your thanksgiving was a blessed one. Ours was quiet and I got to watch the Macy's parade with my feet up sipping coffee. But that did not last long, I was up, getting the dinner ready to eat.

Yes, Kathleen, we had a nice Thanksgiving as we drove to NJ to visit my mother and we brought dinner. We cooked the turkey, stuffing, gravy, cranberry relish, carrot soup at our home and made the side dishes at her house.

Hi Kathleen!

We feed/water doves too! Our neighbors hunt them on their property, so we try to lure a few away each season!

I simply cannot wait until I have eggs in my pocket too! :)
