The wind is high ....

blowing the dirt and clouds across the prairie .It whistles and moans through the closed back door, as if to beg to be let in..............such a blustery day.
I have felt a change in the air for the past couple of weeks..........and I know that all of those summer days I grumbled about will soon be replaced by the cold howling wind.

Salem has sought refuge in the front porch columns, but you can tell by his eyes, the wind sounds fierce and he is thinking about seeking shelter in the warmth of his bed inside.

Sophie has already thought of that............our short walk to the gate and back with the wind pushing and dirt stinging us all the way, has made her realize..............
there's no place like home.

Mother Nature has many voices, and aren't we lucky that she also has many faces and moods.

Oh my! I can just feel that wind and the dirt stinging your skin! Is it still dry there? It is cooler here too, but we're still so very, very dry. Salem will be such good company when the cold wind howls.

The wind is only fun for short bursts. It gets old in a hurry, doesn't it? And your babies know that home is a good place to be when the wind howls!

Even in my short life in West Texas, my memories of windy dust storms is still pretty vivid. Yuck!
That Sophie knows a good thing when she finds it. Yep; cooler weather is a'comin.

Hi Kathleen - yes, it's getting to be that time of year... at least it's not blowing like a hot fan. Wind's picked up here, too, and I hear no rain for the next 7-10 days AGAIN. Someone told me the other day, that this drought is going to last a good while longer.

We can learn alot from observing our critters can't we!

Kathleen, that's a great photo of Salem with the gold eyes standing out against the black fur! The wind blowing the dust around does sound unpleasant. Fall has definitely arrived.

Very windy here too and leaves blowing down everywhere. Billy raked them up in a pile and then burned them and about 3 hours later Annie decided that it would be fun to roll in them. She is one dirty little white (was white) doggie but couldn't get mad at her when I saw the look in her eyes thinking she was in trouble...whats one more dog in the tub :)
Animals are pretty smart when the weather gets nasty and they know where to go..all of course except my Maggie..I think she will just be a little stinker until she is maybe 10 and I can't keep up with her now so I'm sure I won't be able to then :)
Winter will be here quick this year and we will be wishing for one of those hot days back :)

The seasons are changing so quickly,it is a delight and comfort to read about the changes causing us to move ourselves indoors for warmth and comfort. Cats & dogs need that too.Your pictures almost make me FEEL your weather changes.
