The days are still quite hot , however, nights

dip down and are quite chilly........as well as the mornings.........
making outside life, a little slower.............

and a little less active until the sun comes out..........

the fish in the pond have noticed the difference as well...........they have slowed down in eating and seem to drift in the water instead of rush around as they normally do.

They linger out in the morning sun instead of seeking the shade underneath the boards.

4 newly hatched fish somehow escaped being eaten this summer and are growing well...........

All has slowed down.............except my embroidery.............I am finding more time to stitch with less outside work to do.
How about you?
Have your outside activities slowed down?..........or is this the busiest time of year for you?
I would love to hear!

What a sweet picture of the mouse! How did you manage that?

Our work is still pretty hectic, trying to get in the last of the hay. Today we will be hauling it in from the field. Every day I tell my quilt, "maybe I will stitch some today", but it just waits for me.

Beautiful stitches you've done!

I really had to work to get my Fall garden started and it wore me out, so now I'm resting and thinking of indoor activities to keep me busy..

Like Charlotte, we have been in the hay field... but the last bale went up this past weekend. Now we just have to get the sheep ready for winter (worming and hoof trimming) and my outside chores will be winding down. We had our first frost Sunday morning, so I don't think the grass will need mowing again... (Yay!)
I'm ready to start sewing!
Hope you're having a wonderful week, Kathleen.

What great pictures of that little mouse, Kathleen! We had cooler weather last week and lots of rain, but it is warm and sunny again here this week. :)

No, Kathleen, it's actually gotten cool enought early and late in the day to go outside and do something here! I've been pretty busy with various and sundry appointments this weeks so far, but I'm hoping to get out there again tomorrow. It's just so wonderful for it to be cooler!

That mouse is really sweet. Things have slowed a bit, but the day job has just gotten busier, so I am not feeling very relaxed - yet.

I am glad that you guys are starting to cool off a bit. The embroidery is lovely as ever. I love the little mouse. I really love the mouse at your house. ;)

Hi Kathleen. Well, since I'm not doing a fall garden, I don't have as much to do either. Just watering alot still. We're still dry... My wonderful huge old old oak tree that drapes over our deck and part of the farmhouse has some huge dying limbs on it. I don't think we'll lose the whole tree, but we may lose part of it. It makes me so sad. It's probably at least 125-150 years old... We've been watering so much, our water bills have been crazy. We MUST get those limbs cut out before they fall on the house/deck and cause alot of damage!

I want to get some straw for my garden and the last of the tomatoes cleaned up and I will be finished. It is sad to see it go but fall is a beautiful time of the year. The zinnias are blooming non-stop. I will probably be out there keeping them warm when it frosts.

I finally had the time, and felt well enough, to stop by your blog. Love the pictures of the little mouse! I laughed out loud when I saw the picture of your baby fish -- we had the same thing happen at our house! I am amazed at the fact that although we are miles apart and have never met, we share so many interests, etc. I'm so glad that I have the chance to "visit" with you from time to time. It is inspiring!

Sweet mouse, would make for a great kids story.

Are your winters harsh? Just wondering if the fish winter well through it? Have always wanted a pond but know its alot of work.
