No rain in sight...........

and it has been this way in our part of Texas for the past few months. The dirt from the cotton fields have blown into our back property, leaving us with sand dunes,as if there is a beach with water on the other side................but no.

No green grass is growing and water is so sacred that we don't dare water the yard.
I am watering my zinnia and pumpkin gardens, but doing so late in the evening and being careful not to over water and waste.

All around the grounds, it looks like winter instead of a green summer.
We all pray and question God.

And He lets us know that He is still here.............

watching over us....and giving us hope............for a day when maybe........
it might rain.

When I saw these prairie flowers the other day, my mind instantly went to the Bible verse
" I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am......."
Philippians 4:11
The flowers grow and bloom , no matter how harsh the conditions are.............and they seem content and do what they need to do.  Giving me a good lesson to live by ................and I will try to follow their example.

That is a very good lesson indeed. I have another TX friend and they are in the same situation but they have cattle to feed and water and have been digging into there reserves to feed them.

We have stopped trying to water the lawn and just water what pots we have on the patio. We get pop up showers but only a few drops and damaging winds.

Praying you all that the lord will send rain. I know we as humans wonder why the lord allows this but we have to have faith he has his reasons. A bible verse came to mind... If my people will call out to me and seek me I then heal their land. ( I am saying that from memory, i think there is some more to it but cant remember) but in a nutshell many folks have turned away from the lord, maybe this is his way of saying "HELLO"... I am here...

God bless and keep you safe.

Kathleen, we all gripe and complain when things aren't going the way we think they should..but Nature does show us "to keep the faith" as we look around us..In due times the rain will come..(usually just in time.)

Oh, Kathleen, I know. We are so far behind on rain, too. We did get a very short, sweet shower on Sunday afternoon and I just thank God for it. It's sort of like "earnest money", a promise of things to come.

This is a favorite verse of mine, Kathleen.

We are getting occasional thunderstorms which bring some relief. Praying that you will receive needed rain soon.

Hope you have a nice afternoon. I enjoyed your photos today.

Oh my!! You are in a much worse condition than we are!! Your pictures look like winter time! This makes me ashamed that I complained about our hot, dry weather. It has just reached 108* here at 1:30 p.m. I just don't see how farmers are going to get by.

It has been such a strange year weather wise in Texas. From snow storms during the Super Bowl, temps over 100 in early June to the draught. They say that here in D/FW area we are the only part of the state not in draught, but we will get there. So sad to see the dried earth and vegatation. We all pray for rain.

Oh my goodness, Kathleen. I wish I could share with you the rain we've had. Hoping you will get some rain and some relief soon!

Such harsh dryness. I lived in WY during a 7 year drought. The only thing I could find good in it was that the weeds didn't grow. Keep the faith.

Golly, you are dry! Horrible. My CottonLady friend in Lubbock is saying that she/they are loosing thier cotton crop this year. Just not enough water to keep the farms going.

I'm praying for all of you!

oh I'm so sorry :( It makes me feel guilty for "bragging" about my beautiful garden here. I am seriously praying that God will send you long soothing rains very soon.

Hi Kathleen - Good post and thank you for your comments. I think it's too hot for chicks now, too. I think I'm gonna just get my coop ready and get some in the spring. Besides trying to get the house in order after moving - it's probably too busy right now anyway.

The Lord does ask us just to trust Him, doesn't He - especially in the midst of trial - even drought. It's bad here, but I can see that it's much worse out your way. We are on a watering ban, and I'm just trying to keep my young trees alive and my roses. I'm not even worried about the yard except that the grassburrs will take over - they love drought.

Praying for rain for those who need it most, and hopefully the rest of us will get some, too. Take care and God bless you all.

yes ma'am - solid thoughts - we are also experiencing drought and heat near record levels - but I do see the mustang grapes up in our trees and smell the fresh summery smells of our (watered) lawn - it'll rain when it is supposed to and I have to be careful not to wish for a storm in the Gulf to push some long slow rains up to us!

Oh Kathleen, your post is so precious. I take for granted the abundance of rain and water we have. To need to be so careful of a precious commodity we have almost too much of here in the Pacific Northwest reminds me we each have our needs and really , God is the blessed controller of all things. From the rain, to the sunshine, to the very air we breathe, without Him we are lost. Your pictures of the blooms amidst the dry, arid surroundings are pictures of hope and endurance.Beautiful and encouraging.
