I step out and instantly,

the fragrance of the heavy blossomed Stock flower
gets my attention and greets me in the new day. It's vibrant purple blossoms sway in the breeze ...............a gentle breeze, that will soon become hard blowing and full of dirt by mid day. However, this is one tough Texas lady as she survives the drought and the harsh winds hanging on to her petally blossoms.
I finally have finished some hand embroidered things and have placed them in my Etsy shop in hopes for selling. I still have a basket full of things to stitch...........sigh.........bliss........... {:

With the warm spring weather , I am busy getting things done outside. Flower beds are clean and ready and new flower beds are in the making. Mice attacked in the greenhouse and ate all of my pumpkin seed that I had just planted..........so another week to exterminate them and then time to replant.

Always, always there is brush and weeds to clear. There is so much ,it seems ,this year and it has taken up much of my early morning. But with each cleared space, there is a blank canvas for flowers and pumpkins to grow! Hopefully by now, you are experiencing signs of spring?
What are your plans for this coming growing season? Do you have lots of things to clear away.......or perhaps you are ready to start growing? I would love to hear!

My plans are to grow as much food as I can to save myself from the soaring prices at the stores..
I love your smaller box idea and one I may use to keep some plants separate.
Glad you were able to get some embroidery done for your store...

I do have stuff to clear away. I like the idea of it being a blank canvas...
we will probably have another snow...but things are indeed poking up out there.

I am hoping to do minimal tilling this year and then to plant the things we really like to eat rather than lots of squash which we don't. Love you boxes!

If I could I would send you rain, I know what drought is as we have had it here for many years. We are having a wet winter.

I only wish I could smell the fragrance of your lovely flowers, What a way to wake up and have those beauties greet you.

I have some frames like your just waiting to put out but the rain will just make a muddy mess.

Look forward to seeing more of your garden.

Your stock is so pretty. I've tried it before with absolutely no success. Maybe it is too humid here? Your stitcheries are beautiful! I wish you great good success in your shop. I was so interested to read about the custom hand work you had done in a previous post. You are a marvel!

It's still early to be planting anything much here. We still have some piles of snow to get rid of, but spring is on the way. I hope your Etsy shop is a success for you. That's too bad about the mice. Sounds like you've got lots of things planned for the days ahead. Enjoy your weekend, Kathleen! :)

Love your flowers and you have a great attitude to make your dreams come true. I am anxious to get a garden started but just moved here in Oct last year so not sure what will be coming up from people before me. I do know we have a problem with Moles and will have to figure out a way to keep Bambi and family out of my garden. Supposed to have sunshine tomorrow after a week of gloomy skies so am looking forward to that. I do have some Irisis and Crocus planted near the house...hope they come up :)
Love your boxes

Kathleen, I walked out yesterday and looked at all that has to be cleared in my little garden. This morning it is re-covered with four inches of snow. I did see some tulips barely poking up. I love your pictures.

Hi KAthleen, the weather this weekend is rain free, so Grenville and I will be working outdoors clearing weeds and getting the garden areas ready for spring planting. As you said, there is much work to be done before one can enjoy the veggies of our labors.

We still have a lot of snow covering the ground. We are joining a CSA and will have fresh organic vegies this summer. If you can't grow things, find someone who can! I love the purple flowers. I look forward to the crocus soon.
