Not too much to write these days................

but...........wow!..........thank you, dear friends, for commenting on the last post about sprouting acorns! You are all such a good wealth of knowledge and encouragement.............and even though I might have a little garden experience.................I totally did not even think about how long it actually does take an oak tree to grow................thanks to you who mentioned that. I find my mind crowded with what I want to create for the upcoming Thanksgiving feast............and work?...................work has become increasingly hectic and stressful. There are days that I simply cannot take a break because we are so busy with customers calling in orders for food. I am amazed and overwhelmed at how many people know this little cafe exists and want food! By the end of the day, I am completely worn out. I am looking forward to Thanksgiving coming up..........that day I get to escape the hectic cooking and sink back into my life of comfort cooking.....for just a short blessed period! How about you? Are you looking forward to your Thanksgiving feast? Are you cooking something new and different? I would love to hear!

Hello Kathleen. I do hope you get some ME time during the holidays. Will your children all be home? Will you have other company, or are you going to rest this one out with doing only what you want to do.
I do pray, blog friend, that you do get some rest. I feel for you being on your feet every day.
Blessings, Doris

We go to my aunt's for Thanksgiving. WE have a good size family about 30 or more. All us cousins are close and grew up together. our kids have grown up together so we have a great time laughing and telling about what we have been doing. On top of that we have great food. WE all can cook some great southern food. Ham & Turkey, cornbread dressing, potato salad, green beans, corn , yams and this was grown fresh from everyone's gardens.

G'eve Kathleen ~ We do not do our family gathering until the weekend as it creates less IN-LAW issues for the kids. Same with Christmas, we do ours on Christmas Eve ... I truly love the quiet on the actual holidays but am glad when they kids are here.

I spent a very very long time picking up acorns for a special lady on our last trip, brought them home & put them on the washing machine to package. There were many that sprouted but they also had a lot of little creepy crawling critters that came home to, so the squirrels got them all, durnnit!

Have a beautiful Thanksgiving holiday

I like the picture you chose for this post. Made me smile. I'm sorry to hear you have been so busy at work. It sounds like your employers need to hire another person to help out so that you aren't so stressed there. I hope you get to relax a little on Thanksgiving and that you get to spend some time with your family. Hugs to you. :-)

Hi Kathleen, I can hear the tiredness between the lines.
Take it easy if you can, just cook for the family or do a reverse, go to family :o) Maybe like me you don't need all that crowd..Holidays are no longer just families and fun ..Too many other interruptions with other personalites popping in and spoiling the gathering.

Billy doesn't like Turkey so I am making a pork roast...that is the meal we will be thankful for. It will just be the 2 of us so there is no set time to do anything :)
Just chilling out all day...hope you get some quiet time too :)

Hi Kathleen, our family - children - will be here for Thanksgiving. We'll have traditional (for us) dishes, plus a couple of pies.

I wanted to backtrack to the acorns. I wanted to plant a pecan tree when we moved to this house, but I thought it would take too long to be worthwhile. Now 27 years later - just think how many pecans I could have picked up.

my family from Odessa will be coming for T'day with us - making a turkey breast in crockpot and plenty of side dishes - not a huge crowd so will be plenty for meal and leftovers (they are bringing a ham) Nothing too exotic this year - cheesecake, pumpkin pie squares (big flat pan rather than round pie pan) and something chocolate which I haven't decided yet!

Hello Kathleen,
We have our family over every year, usually I make and bake it all, however, this year I had to ask for a little help in the cooking of it all. We'll have a dozen people around the table sharing life long stories about our past times. Most impotantly, we are praising God for all he has provided our families with. As well as remembering our military soldiers whom may not be home with their families for the holidays.

Honey, find a quiet corner and give yourself some rest and relaxation...

Blessings,Mel

Enjoy your little well deserved break. We get together with family, its alot of really good food. We take Lefse every year and spent all Saturday making it. My husband is doing a ham so he is trying a cherry ham glaze.

This time of year gets busy so quickly, but I am thankful for the Thanksgiving holiday. Time to share a meal ( yes, a big one!) with friends and family and hopefully take time to give thanks to God, to each other, and remember we do have so much to be thankful for. Happy, peaceful, comforting, blessed, Thanksgiving to you and yours Kathleen~

I hope you get to put your feet up and rest a bit. Hope you will have a wonderful day. We are celebrating Thanksgiving on Saturday as a family. We have learned to move holidays around to make adjustments with work schedules. Everyone at work is bringing part of a dinner for Thanksgiving so we won't miss it.
