Time For My Creature Feature

My life, here on the farm ,would not be what it is without my feathered and fur ball critters that I have around me. For me.....................
it's also the wild and crawly creatures that make life so interesting here. Some are pretty creepy and threatening. But if you look past that............see the blue/black sheen, the copper head, the soft yellow legs?..............so colorful.

The spikes and horns on these horned toads look intimidating,..................like ferocious little dragons............... . Their legs, feet, and neck have perfect scales. I have always felt that they have a somewhat "western design" on them. They look like they are prepared for battle,
Yet, these are one of the most docile lizards ever.

The brilliant colors of this grasshopper is so striking....................that even though it's probably the one who has been leaving holes on the leaves of my flowers..........I can't bear to end it's life.
Can you see the little leopard print wings and the leaf design that goes up the leg?

This large grasshopper crawled out from the watered leaves and allowed me to look at it's intricate design. If one looks really close................one would be surprised at how much beauty is in the make up of these little creatures. This is what inspires me in my embroidery. Can you see the dots on it's back that run perfectly in line? It's small dotted wings also stand out. I am ready to get my embroidery floss out and to capture this beauty with thread and needle. How about you? What do you think has beautiful design and color in nature? Butterflies or birds perhaps? Any insect lovers out there? I would love to hear!

The most famous artwork of the world is nothing when looking at the the artistry in God's creations. Guess that's why He's called the Master. We don't have those exotic creatures here in the city but there are some very peculiar bugs around here and they are eating my zinnias. Those pictures were so interesting, especially that grasshopper.

Fabulous photos! That creepy crawly thing is scary!!!!! The horned toads look like minature little dinosaurs, don't they? Our Lord is so amazing in His creation, isn't He? When I was a child I called grasshoppers "hossgappers"!
Enjoyed your post! V.

Insects are some of our favorites too. Some from a distance. What a great way to study the intricacy and diversity of our Creator just in the insect world! Thanks for sharing yours. I remember the horned toads!
Have a great 4th!

The Lord made such interesting creatures for our world - I do love horned toads - great little ant eaters. Thanks for sharing up close and personal with those who share our Texas environment.

I know they are all Gods creatures but I will stick to my Dogs and Cats and some of the Toads I have in my yard. I have a Tree Frog that comes and hangs on the window in my computer room every night at dusk. I always wonder if he wants to come in...I try and make sure they don't because my puppies and cats would kill him for sure..I have caught many and put them back outside..Never want to see any of Gods little creatures die. Great pictures and very interesting :) Hop on over to my blog and enter to win the $30.00 gift card for free Groceries :)

Hi Kathleen! These were great photos! I posted a garden spider on my blog last week. It was beautiful in yellow and black. I'm leaving it alone and following it's progress so I can watch it grow. Peggy is right - there is nothing that man can create or paint that can compare with God's handiwork! I'm so thankful that He made us such a beautiful world to live in - it's never boring, is it!

They are beautiful in pictures! I sure wouldn't want to run into any of them, though!

Wow...you have a variety of insects, and lizards that I've never seen. That grasshopper looks big...and so detailed. Ours are much smaller and not so defined. Amazing...delightful and educational post!! Thanks!

Wow! I love the animals, insects, and God's creation on your farm. They are so beautiful with their colors. I especially like the bugs. God sure has created an awesome world.
As Mama and I were walking the other evening, we noticed how pretty the leaves are with all their different shapes and the many textures of bark on trees are so pretty.

I do love most creatures great and small. I always enjoy seeing red winged black birds on cat tails, they remind me of the area I grew up in.
Those toads are so fun!
