Bird??........what bird??

Today I saw the strangest sight..
A dove with no tail feathers...as it
took off in flight...
What could have happened? I wondered all the while....
In the yard I found them lying in a pile...
"It wasn't me! Said old Max in woe....
hack, cough, sneeze, I'm too old and too slow! "

Boo said, "I've been here..sleeping all the day!
I would have never taken it's tail feathers away!"

Abbey?..Abbey... What about you?.....
"Me?...NO!!..yawn, stretch..
I've been sleeping.....it's true!"

Salem...where are you, have you not heard?
"Uumm, me? not me! ....bird...what bird???

Salem, you have feathers from your head

to your feet! ....
"The bird gave them to me...he's so very sweet!"
"He flew down beside me and said we could share.....I get his feathers...
he gets my hair!.....

Now Salem, the birds are like family...we don't eat them you know!
No more grabbing birdies, or outside you can't go!

"I promise" says Salem, "to be good from now on"
and just enjoy birdies for their lovely spring song.
I wont grab their tail feathers or pounce in their way
and right by your side I promise to stay"

That's hilarious Kathy! I love the picture of Salem with the feathers. He looks just like a little kid who's been caught with chocolate all over him.

I'm sorry to tell you Kathy -black cats sometimes can't keep their promises. It is a harsh thing but they have so many other wonderful qualities we must forgive.
Darling story!

That's too cute, Kathleen! Our old Siamese used to jump up and catch blue jays when they would swoop down to peck him. I'm so envious of your kitties! I've grown so allergic to them, I can't have them anymore! Waaaa!

Kathleen, that Salem is a liar! That bird must have put up a good fight and got away ...or Salem doesn't need any more dinner!

Dear Salem...I believe you were only trying to be friendly and may have gotten carried away with your hospitality....it happens to the best of us.

My brain is singing a song that goes something like, "promises, promises, oh those promises, promises..." I think I have a little missy here that will never be let outside. If she isn't flying six feet in the air to land on the curtain rod, she is staring out the window at the bird feeder, head perfectly still and the rest of her body wiggling in wind up mode.

I think the chickens have our cats convinced that all birds are MUCH bigger up close than they appear at the bird feeder!!

That's too funny that you found him with feathers on his paws! Too funny!

Oh, LOL - the feather under the paw is just too too funny! Nicely done!

Salem is being a bad titty tat! Such a cute post. I missed visiting with you during my illness!

LOL Poor Salem just thought he hid the evidence!
I'm glad it's warm there- or that poor little dove would have an awfully cold hiney!

Innocent until proven guilty. All you have is a bit of circumstantial evidence!! HA HA! That cat looks mighty guilty to me though. :D

Salem looks like our black cat..Chris. He loves to sit and watch the birds too. Once he brought one down much to my disgust.
