Living the Country Life

I awake to the crow of the rooster, I smile, I am living the country life.
I go out and look up at the sky and offer my praise to God that I am living the country life.

I look out across the fields that stretch for miles and miles, I am thankful I am living the country life.

I gather my bounty of the things I am free to grow because I live the country life.

I share this country life with some of nature's sweetest gifts. The many wild birds that come, raise their families and leave.....soon to return to this country life next year.

I am living the country life, where my only neighbor is my shadow.....

And a few sweet fury creatures.....

and a few muddy, noisy creatures.

I am blessed, I am grateful, and I smile because I am living the country life.

I agree... I thank my lucky stars everyday that we're out in the country. Every time I get stuck in traffic, or curse the drive to work... I realize that it's all worth it when I come home to country noises only and see stars at night. Well said Kathleen!

Kathleen, I can so identify with you! I awake each day to the delights of the country! There is nothing so wonderful as waking to the geese honking over the top of the house, or the mother cows "encouraging" their calves to hurry up and follow them. I am not sure how I came to be so blessed...but I am ever thankful!

I'm so happy for you and I am green with envy seeing the chickens....to be a little younger I would switch this suburban life lickey split for living
"The Country Life" ...I at least am getting a good taste of it at my "Almost an Acre" farm in my old age..God is Good.

What a lovely post.

Hi, I came over from City Mouse/Country House for a visit. I'm just out blog hopping before I have to head to work.

I have enjoyed my visit and will be back very soon to visit again. Next time I will have more time to check out your blog further.

Thanks for sharing your country life.

Amen Sister! Grass instead of concrete....neighbors you can't see...Idiot rooster instead of car horns...horse whinnies and snorts instead of blasting radios.

I sometimes get so caught up in doing chores I forget to stop and just enjoy...thank you so much for reminding me what we have here.

What a sweet post, reminding me of the simple but precious blessings we have...and your country life does indeed look like a life that gives you so much and that I can tell you're thankful for !

Your black cat looks like MY black cat, Joey...and are those chickens Marans ? Are they laying dark brown eggs ?

Lucky and blessed you! Maybe one of these days, I too will be a totally country gal. I'm tryin' my best to get to the place to where we can move out to the farm. When I get my last kid and a half out of the house....

I mirror your feelings, Kathleen. I moved from the city 5 years ago and I still walk outdoors and look around in amazement that I have been blessed to live in the country.

A drive to town leaves is a country ride. Waking up in the morning to the sound of a clucking hen below my window as she lays her egg ... and our breakfast! Sometimes I wonder if I'm simply dreaming.

I am blessed indeed!

I love the country, too. We only have an acre, but cows, wild turkeys, deer, rabbits, and geese are a common and everyday sight...and hills. Looks like you have flat land as far as the eye can see. That's something that would take me a while to get used to.
