The view from my window

Outside from my window, I can see and hear the rain steadily dropping into my flower beds. Much needed rain. It has been cloudy and rainy this whole week, and I am grateful for every drop.
Every thing has perked up and is getting a little relief from the hot Texas sun and dirt. All of pets are inside...in their favorite spaces, curled up ....asleep. The chickens have taken shelter in their hen house ...their nests full of hay. Only the ducks enjoy playing out in this weather. Their faces full of mud as they dig deep into the muck.
The moss, usually a dull gray, on the mesquite trees, has even come to life and is showing it textured coat of green. This mesquite tree looks almost like the head of a dragon with it's cold gray eye staring out! Along with the rain, will be much work needing to be done when the weather clears. The rain seems to be a vitamin drink for the weeds and they seem to double in size in just a matter of days. So for today, I will stay inside as well, my needle in hand, stitching on projects begging for my attention. It is always so good to hear from all of you. What kind of weather do you like best? Rain, snow, or hot sunny days? I would love to hear.

Raining here too friend - I rejoice for your part of the world - W. Texas always needs more rain. I do love that dragon face mesquite! We are supposed to get a lot more rain this weekend - our place is in no danger since we are more on a hill but some folks will get flooded if we get the 6-10 inches they are currently talking about! Snuggle in and enjoy a rainy day - Showers of blessings showers of blessings we need - mercy drops 'round us are falling, but for the showers we plead - yes ma'am we are getting what we pray for!

Oregon has the reputation of having a lot of rain. I guess we do but when we have sunshine we see the rewards of the rain! Everything is green. Rain is not fun to be out in...running errands etc. but it does make for a great day at home with a pot of soup warming on the stove!
Thank you for sharing your part of the U.S. It is so nice to see your trees and gardens! 6-10 inches is a lot of rain..so do be careful!!

I like rainy days for sleeping and snow for playing in. I like it a little warm but not too hot.

Oh. I LOVE a rainy day ! How refreshing ! I have been to Texas in the summer and longed for rain .

That mesquite tree DOES look like a dragon.

Sounds like my kind of day, rain, indoor activities, rest from the heat and outside obligations. Thank-you for the spot of reflection on a rainy day. KathyB.

What a relaxing post. Used to live in West Texas and know you can use the rain. So wonderful that you can take a day off and just tuck yourself inside the house.

Rainy days are blessings indeed! We haven't had many this summer and the farmers in our area are hurting a bit. Glad you can be cozy inside while knowing outside things are getting refreshed and renewed. Definitely something to be grateful for. Have a great day, Kathleen. :D

I'm half English, so rainy days are my days. I love to see the gardens and flowers soak it up, I love what it does to my hair, and I love the feeling of snuggling into the house for the day. I like snow too--the softness and quiet of it. Sunshine is okay early in the morning when the dew is on the grass or the frost is glittering. But I definitely do not like being hot!

So glad you are getting that much neede rain! Isn't it amamzing how quickly it brings renewal (even to those pesky weeds)?

I don't mind rain, but my favorite weather is the cool crisp days of fall when the sun is shining but not broiling everything in sight!

Enjoy your project time! Chris

I love rainy days when you can be home relaxing. I love reading on rainy days. But working on rainy days? Not so fun.

Oh, Kathleen!
I'm so glad to hear that you;re getting your much needed rain!

I love rainy days and long for snow..... but here, in Louisiana, we don't really get snow. So I'll just keep dreaming of those days....
